Your Questions, Answered

So…what exactly is a Celebrant? What can they do? What can’t they do? - Fear not, I have the answers, and if I don’t on this page - contact me.

Let’s cover my favourite one here:
Why a Celebrant-led ceremony?

Simply put, it’s a ceremony that is entirely yours!
You get to choose the venue, the time, every word of content that goes in the script you get to tweak and choose and craft alongside me, you can have your beliefs acknowledged if you want to - whether they’re spiritual, secular, or religious. I can honour them.

As an independent Celebrant, I get the privilege of creating a ceremony with you that is quite truly uniquely tailored to you and for you. Hence:
Bold.
Beautiful.
Bespoke.

  • A Celebrant is someone who leads ceremonies such as weddings and funerals, though because they are not affiliated with any religious or state-body, they can perform the ceremony in a much more unique, customisable way. In this way, a Celebrant-led ceremony is a truly wonderful experience that allows your personality and your wishes shine through.

  • I don’t have any regulations or rules as to what I can or cannot perform in terms of readings, rituals, or celebrations. If you want a certain faith or culture honoured as part of your ceremony that’s more than feasible! But, you never have to worry that something CAN’T be done by me - in the way you would potential other forms of officiant.

Equally, this allows me to truly work collaboratively with you to ensure you’re having your ceremony EXACTLY how you want it.

  • Yes. I trained with the International College of Professional Celebrants (ICPC) and am therefore accredited. I’m currently undertaking by full NOCN Certificate for Weddings, Funerals, and other ceremonies. This is OFQUAL regulated.

  • For now, unfortunately, no. In England and Wales, a celebrant-led ceremony is not legally binding in itself.  You will still need to have a separate, simple ceremony at a register office to legally register your marriage.  This is usually a short, administrative procedure.

While I can perform your Wedding ceremony - You will need to give notice at least 29 days before you want to legally marry one another then return to the register office to carry out the statutory marriage registration. In the presence of a registrar (not a celebrant), you will declare that you are free to marry one another then you will say the legally binding words which make the marriage legal.

After that, you’re able to have your Wedding Day however you like it - with a Celebrant leading it. That’s where I come in with Spring Celebrancy - Bold. Beautiful. Bespoke.

  • This depends upon which ceremony you would like to book me for. For funerals or similar, you can book last minute within 7 days, a couple of weeks to months in advance.

For any other ceremony, please enquire about my availability.

With regard to weddings - it is advisable to book me as soon as you have confirmed your venue. Currently, I am already booking into next year, so if you want me, book me sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.

  • Use my contact form to fill in your details and then we'll meet online or in person and get to know each other a little. We’ll discuss the vision for your day.

After the call, you'll receive my booking form / service agreement. When you decide that you would like to proceed, you will complete the booking form and pay the booking fee. Once the booking fee is paid, I am exclusively yours and all the FUN STUFF BEGINS!

  • If you choose me as your Celebrant (YAY!), I take half the total fee upfront as a non-refundable booking fee. This secures your chosen date and once I receive this, I will start work on crafting the ceremony.

The other half of the payment is invoiced a few days before your event for funerals and other ceremonies - for weddings, I invoice for the remaining payment 30 days before the big day.

  • Of course! I don't charge for online rehearsals. An in-person rehearsal will cost between £50-£100 depending upon location, plus travel costs - the cost of a train journey/equivalent, or 45p per mile if I drive.

  • As someone who works in the Arts industry, seeing fellow actors, writers, and artists lose entire livelihoods to generative AI, it will surprise you very little to learn I have a clear policy for Spring Celebrancy - NO AI. NOT NOW. NOT EVER.

You can rest assured that every poem, reading, song choice, word of the script, and everything in between had been created by myself or crafted by amazing human artists throughout the world and our history.

    Support human art. Always.
(I’ve seen other Celebrants openly use ChatGPT to create a ceremony. …Absolutely not.)
