Nice to meet you! I’m Jake

From my early days working in Theatre, Film, and Voice as an actor, and then later as a writer too, I have always had a keen joy for words - just ask my Mum and the hours lost to my ADHD deep dives into Lord of the Rings, cinema and beyond!

Words are powerful, they can make or break any situation. They can craft stories, plays, films, and songs that can in turn inspire people to chase dreams, find love, leave bad experiences, and more! Words are amazing things. So, when I was doing a reading at the wedding of two amazing close friends - both them and their Celebrant told me afterward.

“That was wonderful. You could easily do this for a living alongside your Arts work!”

Followed by one more thing from said Celebrant.

“Have you heard of the ICPC? (The International College of Professional Celebrants)”

The rest is history!

it is a joy and a privilege to be your celebrant!

I’m not an accredited Celebrant and they were absolutely right. I do this incredible and rewarding work when I’m not being an Actor and Writer. It’s a beautiful trifecta of jobs and I feel incredibly lucky to be able to do them all.

I have the expertise as a writer to craft ceremonies that not only flow well, are meaningful, and skilfully crafted - but you can also have the confidence that I can ensure your story or your loved one’s is weaved into a ceremony script with grace and deftness. Equally, being an actor allows for skills in delivery to shine through - especially in that of sourcing poetry or prose readings, and performing the rhythm and meaning of those pieces (and your own) with feeling and depth.

We’ve all been to that ceremony in our lives that just a little…dead behind the eyes. Flat. Performatively “by the book”.

I have ZERO interest in bring that to your ceremony. That’s not what I do.

What I do, what I specialise in, is crafting something that is as unique as you are - from the songs you choose, to the readings, to my own script. Your wedding, your person’s funeral, naming, whatever it may be, deserves that level of effort and creativity and that is something I endeavour to bring to every single ceremony I deliver.

That and a lot of laughter, creativity, grace, and more than a few geeky references!
